Mr Sudharshan Venu: The Force Behind TVS Motor Company’s Unparalleled Success
TVS Motor Company has come a long way since its initial inception in 1978. Over the years, it has built a strong foothold in the domestic market. The idea for global expansion and a dedicated portfolio of electric vehicles has been framed and executed by Mr Sudharshan Venu.
Born in a family with a rich automotive history, Mr Sudharshan Venu developed a deep-rooted passion for bikes from an early age. As for a generational shift, he was inducted as one of the Board of Directors in the company in 2011. He had interned with different departments of manufacturing and also got trained in the die-cast division, for an in-hand experience of how various elements are put together while manufacturing a vehicle.
In 2022, Mr Sudharshan Venu was appointed as the Managing Director of TVS Motor Company. He has been extensively engaging with the R&D team ever since. After the launch of the TVS iQube, Mr Sudharshan Venu started leading a new strategy and a vertical, which is being mentored by former JLR CEO, Ralph Steph, who has been appointed as the Chairman of TVS Motor Company in 2021. This partnership aims at the goal of rapid penetration of electric vehicles.
Currently, government policies are playing in favour of the electric vehicle (EV) sector with new charging standards, standardised connectors, and subsidies. Ultimately, streamlining and simplifying the future development of the ecosystem and upcoming e-scooters.
The best-selling electric scooter, the TVS iQube, has been received well in the market, clocking an average of 10,000 monthly sales. As for a greater plan of TVS Motor Company’s “Vision 2030”, the company is eyeing a bigger share of global and electric markets. It has planned an outlay worth INR 3,900 crore of investment over the next four to five years to boost its green portfolio.
The TVS-BMW
collaboration is also in action and manufacturing new petrol and electric two-wheelers
for the Indian and international markets to promote sustainable mobility. TVS
Motor Company, under the leadership of Mr Sudharshan Venu, aims to be greener with
the TVS iQube and other electric vehicles in the coming future.
